CERID Strategic Goals
Our Strategic Commitment

Building a Resilient Future for Infectious Disease Research

The strategic goals of CERID are designed to strengthen Nigeria's and Africa's capacity to prevent, detect, investigate, and respond to infectious diseases of public health importance through science, innovation, and collaboration.

By integrating genomics, molecular diagnostics, epidemiology, biobanking, implementation science, and capacity development, CERID seeks to generate evidence that supports effective disease control, health system strengthening, and global health security.

Our objectives are aligned with national public health priorities, regional disease surveillance initiatives, and international efforts to improve preparedness for endemic, epidemic, and pandemic threats.

Strategic Goals

What CERID Aims to Achieve

CERID's long-term goals focus on scientific leadership, genomic preparedness, research innovation, workforce development, and sustainable public health impact.

Strengthen Genomic Preparedness

Establish advanced genomics and sequencing capabilities that enable rapid detection, characterization, and response to infectious diseases with endemic, epidemic, or pandemic potential.

Advance Research & Innovation

Conduct cutting-edge multidisciplinary research in infectious and non-infectious diseases to generate new knowledge, address pressing health challenges, and develop innovative solutions.

Develop Future Scientific Leaders

Train and mentor the next generation of scientists, healthcare workers, epidemiologists, and laboratory professionals through hands-on research, postgraduate training, workshops, and mentorship programmes.

Support Disease Surveillance Systems

Strengthen local, national, and regional disease surveillance systems by providing genomic, diagnostic, and epidemiological support for outbreak detection, investigation, and response.

Establish Sustainable Biobanking Infrastructure

Develop and maintain high-quality biobanking systems for infectious disease samples to support research, diagnostics, genomic studies, and future public health investigations while ensuring ethical and regulatory compliance.

Operational Objectives

How We Deliver Impact
